This is an Administrative Principal Position
St Mary’s has an enrolment of 212 pupils and is a co-educational, mainstream national school with special
classes. The school has 14 classroom teachers, 3 full-time special education teachers, 8 special needs assistants
and a part time secretary. The school is under the patronage of the Church of Ireland Bishop of Cork, Cloyne
and Ross. Applicants must have an understanding of and commitment to the ethos of St Mary’s. All children
and staff are equally valued in St. Mary’s and there is a commitment to caring and belonging to the school, the
community and Carrigaline Union of Parishes.
We welcome applicants for the post of principal, who are fully registered (Route 1) with the teaching Council
of Ireland, have 5 years recognised teaching service, two must be in a recognised primary school within the
republic of Ireland.
Roles and responsibilities for this post relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management, as specified
in the Department of education (DES) circular 0044/2019
The following knowledge, skills and experience are desirable:
Relevant professional development especially in the area of school leadership and communication.
Proven ability to work as a member of a large team.
An understanding of and commitment to the school’s Church of Ireland ethos and an ability to support
and promote school and parish links.
Knowledge of the Primary Curriculum and show a range of teaching experience.
Experience of in-school policy development.
Experience of working as part of an In-School Management team.
A commitment to work in partnership with the Deputy Principal in furthering the aims of the school.
