This is a Teaching Principal position.
Loughquittane NS is a five-mainstream class school, with two permanent SET and a specific purpose part-time EAL teacher.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities for this position relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management, taken from ‘Looking at our School, 2022: A Quality Framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools’.
1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity
The following skills, experience and knowledge are desirable:
• An understanding of and commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school, and must have a recognised qualification to teach Religious Education
• A knowledge of Special Educational Needs with a commitment to inclusion and diversity
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary curriculum, with a broad range of teaching experience including in multi-grade settings.
• An ability to work as part of a team, to manage and work collaboratively with all staff members and a proven aptitude in fostering leadership skills in others
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, the Board of Management and wider school community
• Organisational capabilities in managing school resources with strong ICT and administrative skills and proven capacity for managing school finances
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of school- based initiatives, with a strong commitment to leading teaching and learning
• An understanding of policy development, school self evaluation and long-term strategic planning for the development of the school
Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria - fully registered under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council.
The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of qualifications.
Appointment to this position will be subject to, but not limited to successful, OHS, Garda Vetting, current and continuing Teaching Council Registration, satisfactory references and proof of qualifications.
