An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.

Teacher for Pupils with Special Needs
St. Ita’s and St. Joseph’s Primary and Post-Primary Special School is designated as a special school for students 5-18 years of age who have been assessed as being in the Mild General Learning Disability Range. Many of our students would have additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, Social Emotional and Behavioural Needs and /or Behaviours that Challenge. Experience of working in a special school environment and/or with students with Autism would be desirable and beneficial but not essential. Experience of working with students who present with behaviours that challenge would also be desirable but not essential.
Primary aged students follow the Primary curriculum while senior students follow the Level 1 or Level 2 Junior Cycle programme as well as the Leaving Cert Applied programme.
Appointments will be subject to satisfactory references, occupational health screening, Teaching Council registration and up to date Garda Vetting.
APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN 5.30PM ON THE CLOSING DATE.
